Member Driven Public Policy For Trade Associations
MDPP is a structured approach to problem solving. Members are educated on a specific issue to determine whether it is important to the Association. The issue is presented as a question with background and options provided. Adopting policy options from those set forth effectively guides the membership in adopting policy (member "buy-in") to be "owned" by members and implemented by the Association.
Once the process is understood and the structure in place MDPP can be implemented immediately. Understanding the process and working through it typically can be done in a day.
Consulting/Coaching remains available to assist association staff drafting initial papers implementing MDPP. Working with staff through the first cycle is generally needed to get MDPP up and running. Once successfully implemented additional efforts, in the form of mobilizing the member base, may be necessary with assistance available as needed.
